Nutrition & medical disclaimer

TraceMeal provides nutrition information, not diagnosis or treatment.

TraceMeal helps you inspect food composition, recipe nutrients and population nutrient-reference values. It is not a doctor, dietitian, emergency service or substitute for individual medical advice.

Nutrition data varies

Food values can vary by variety, brand, preparation, storage, cooking and laboratory/source methods. Database entries can be estimated, incomplete or unavailable. A missing value does not prove that a nutrient is absent.

Reference values are population guides

Australian/New Zealand nutrient reference values are designed for population groups. Your personal needs can differ because of health conditions, pregnancy or breastfeeding, medications, allergies, absorption, activity, body size and other factors.

When to get professional help

Seek appropriately qualified advice before using nutrition information to manage a diagnosed condition, pregnancy or breastfeeding, an eating disorder, a significant food allergy, medication/nutrient interactions, a suspected deficiency, possible excessive intake, a therapeutic diet or a major dietary change.

Emergencies

Do not use TraceMeal for emergencies. If you believe you or another person needs urgent medical help, contact the appropriate emergency service or health service for your location.

More detail about data sources and uncertainty is available on Data & methods. Account and data-handling information is in the Privacy Policy.
